While giving
Boards to children who cannot afford them is the kernel at the
center of our beginnings, we also want to foster good will in ALL
aspects of skating. To this end we offer some things which we would
like to see more of?
1. Parents
and civically-minded adults being more pro-active with getting parks
built for our sport.
2. Exposing
skaters to all types of skateboarding. There are long boards, slalom
boards, and downhill specialty boards for speed and sport. There are
also bowl boards and many other types which most new skaters are not
even aware of. Skateboarding is a vast sport with many styles and
opportunities. See it all.
3. More kids
skateboard than play baseball or football in this country. Parents
should be proud of their skater children.
4. When you
buy a $29.95 skateboard you get a $29.95 piece of equipment. If you
have to do that to begin, fine. However, your child's interest in
skateboarding grows, an investment into good equipment will be
necessary. Be prepared. A good skateboard can cost from $80-$200.
Not much considering what other sports cost.
5. More
people should realize that skateboarding grew and thrived until the
'grown up' laws closed the parks in the late 70's and early 80's.
Lawsuits closed those parks. Not kids. And the sport moved on, grew,
and thrived. Skateboarding is here to stay, embrace this amazing
sport and provide parks and support for the millions of kids who
skate every day.
